The training was held at Vithas Valencia Turia Hospital, the new healthcare center that Vithas opened in the city this year, and was delivered by staff from Vithas Valencia 9 de Octubre, Vithas Valencia Consuelo, and Vithas Turia.
HoyLunes (Valencia) – Vithas Valencia Turia Hospital, which opened its doors last April, was chosen this year as the venue for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training for volunteers who will take part in the Valencia Half Marathon and Marathon Trinidad Alfonso Zurich 2025.
More than fifty people took part in the session, held at the new Vithas hospital, sponsor of both races. This is the first in a series of theoretical and practical classes available to all volunteers registered for the races, with the aim of ensuring that, in case of an emergency during the events, they are able to react and know how to administer first aid until healthcare professionals arrive.
Since 2016, Vithas has actively promoted healthy habits linked to sports through information sessions, outreach initiatives, and a strong commitment to training the volunteer team of both the Marathon and Half Marathon Valencia. In fact, it is the medical and nursing professionals from Vithas Valencia 9 de Octubre, Vithas Valencia Consuelo, and, for the first time this year, also Vithas Valencia Turia, who are responsible for teaching the classes.
Dr. Virginia López, Medical Director of the races, expressed her gratitude “for the commitment of the Vithas group in training hundreds of volunteers who will not only safeguard the cardiac health of our sporting events but also that of their immediate surroundings. This effort reflects a strong involvement in improving survival rates for both runners and the general public, equipping volunteers to recognize critical situations and initiate emergency actions”.

For his part, Víctor Marí, Head of Volunteering for the Valencia Half Marathon and Marathon Trinidad Alfonso Zurich, pointed out that “thanks to the courses provided by Vithas, our volunteers acquire the necessary knowledge to react to situations that may occur in the daily life of any of us. Therefore, in addition to improving their preparation for our events, we also enhance CPR awareness and knowledge among Valencian society”.
Meanwhile, Dr. Javier Palau, Managing Director of Vithas Valencia Turia Hospital, stated “the satisfaction of hosting this training activity in our facilities. For Vithas, supporting two of the city’s most important sporting events is part of our commitment to health promotion, prevention, and the culture of effort”.
The collaboration with both races is framed within the priority of Vithas Valencia 9 de Octubre, Vithas Valencia Consuelo, and Vithas Valencia Turia hospitals to promote prevention, community well-being, and the responsible practice of sports.
